Artist's Country
Country is the term often used by Aboriginal peoples to describe the lands, waterways and seas to which they are connected. The term contains complex ideas about law, place, custom, language, spiritual belief, cultural practice, material sustenance, family and identity.
The Google Map below lists each of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait artists and where they are from, which often influences their art. Country areas are provided on the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia.
If you would like to know more and have access to Apple Maps you can read about the Country that is so important to each of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
