Rhubee Neale is a Central Australian Aboriginal Contemporary artist who paints with acrylic and pen on canvas. She is a proud Anmatjere/Arrernte Woman who comes from a family of influential artists and activists. Her artworks are unique and original, reflecting her cultural heritage and personal experiences. 

 

“Grandmas and Granddaughters” is one of her latest works, inspired by her relationship with her granddaughter and the precious time they spend together. The painting depicts a joyful and celebratory scene of grandmothers and granddaughters walking in the park, sharing stories and memories, from the past and the present. The painting is a vibrant piece that captures the essence of family and love.  

 

Rhubee was honoured to be presented with the Creative Artist of the Year 2024 by Simone Ulalka Tur and Klynton Wanganeen at the South Australian NAIDOC Awards. Rhubee’s family have been her inspiration; her children, sister Letty Scott, her mother’s brother and sister Uncle Teddy Briscoe and Aunty Patsy Morton (Briscoe), her mother’s cousin Uncle Clifford Possum, and her father’s sister MK Turner.
